Michael Gebert
Michael grew up in Oberallgäu and with the mountains so close he quickly discovered his passion for everything hat can be done in nature. He did several unsuccessfull attempts to fly by himself before he learned hanggliding when he was 14. With two prices in the Junior Challenge he advanced to the German Drachenliga (German Hangliding Association). Trying other sports such as mountainbiking and cross-country skiing he built on a basic fitness from early on, an advantage for the Red Bull X-Alps contests. As paragliding teacher, travel guide and partner of Felix Wölk in various interesting fotography jouneys to remote places all over the world flying is part and parcel of his life. In 2005 he was surprisingly listed for the contest for the first time and was able to reach the 5th place as the youngest team together with his supporter Florian.
Florian Schellheimer
This year’s supporter will be Florian Schnellheimer again. He was supporter already in 2005. The two of them have known each other since first grade and went to school together for 12 years. They outdid each other with “wild plans” … not always making the teachers exactly happy! This is proof enough that they know each other very well and they also aided each other in the successful race in 2005. Florian is perfect in doing all the small, neccesary things. He does not rest before he knows how an unfamiliar device works and he is able to talk on the phone telling Michael where to go and film at the same time!
